Around three billion people cook on open fires or inefficient stoves using solid fuels such as wood or charcoal, causing deadly air pollution inside their homes. As a result it is estimated that more than 4 million people die each year from illnesses caused by these fumes. Christian Aid’s In Their Lifetime Appeal has launched four projects piloting the distribution and sale of improved cook stoves based on a sustainable business model that supports local employment. This video looks at a cook stoves project that has just started in Mali.
